Start Your New Year Off Right!

January 13, 2014 by admin

new years habitsToday is the first day of the rest of your dental care life! Develop excellent dental health care habits today for healthy teeth and gums tomorrow.f One of the best things about practicing preventive care is that you can start right now. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. Preventive Dental Health Step 1: Put a dab of toothpaste about the size of a pea on your toothbrush. Using a small circular motion, brush for about two to three minutes. The toothbrush should be at a slight angle while you’re brushing – about 45 degrees from your teeth. Be sure to brush the backs or insides of your teeth as well as the chewing surfaces. Brush your teeth at least twice a day.  Preventive Dental Health Step 2: Using about 18 inches of dental floss, pull the floss ends so that the floss forms a “C” as it wraps around each of your teeth. Ease the floss thread between your teeth, then gently scrape plaque from the gums to the top of the tooth. Don’t forget to floss the backs of your teeth, too. Remember what they say, “Only floss the teeth you want to keep!”  Preventive Dental Health Step 3: Don’t wait, schedule your six-month dental check-up today. It’s an easy thing to forget, so go ahead and get those appointments booked now and stick a reminder on your phone.
